The Benefits of Cosmetic Dentistry

August 7, 2016 by Civin Smiles Leave a Comment

Cosmetic dentistry procedures include teeth whitening, teeth straightening; veneers, bleaching, crowns, and reshaping to name a few.

Health Pluses

  • Are you a former smoker? Correcting years’ worth of damage isn’t just for your psychological benefit. It just might help you remain a former smoker, and not relapse.
  • Have you got a sweet tooth? Your new smile might help you stay away from too many sweets and anything else which could potentially harm your brand-new beautiful smile.
  • Do you get frequent headaches? Perhaps you’ve got TMJ (Temporomandibular Disorder). Crooked teeth can interfere with alignment, which can cause this painful condition. Straightening your teeth will help to straighten that out.

Social Pluses

  • Correcting appearance issues: these procedures can whiten your teeth and straighten them. Cosmetic Dentistry Mark L. Civin, D.D.S.,Small or misshapen teeth can be concealed or corrected. Chips, gaps, and cracks can all be corrected. Uneven gum lines can be smoothed out.
  • Preventing future damage: gum recession means you may be in danger of future tooth loss. Covering chips and cracks means you’re less likely to get cavities and suffer greater loss.
  • Creating a more youthful appearance: we have all seen how our teeth can yellow with age or appear longer gum tissue recedes. Correcting these issues means a return to a more youthful smile.
  • Career enhancement: look more vital and vibrant – both of these are characteristics employers are looking for, no matter what your industry may be. Are you smiling less because your teeth aren’t at their best? That could be holding you back. Maybe your coworkers see you as unapproachable, or even unfriendly. Maybe potential employers feel you could be hard to talk to. A more beautiful smile inevitably means you’ll want to show it off. And smiling more means employers and future employers will see you as easier to talk to and more of a team player.
  • Being more confident: when you’re self-conscious about anything, it shows in your body language, in your work choice, in how you carry yourself, and everything else about you. This is true of any sort of appearance issue, and dental appearance problems are no exception. Smiling less means you give forth an impression of being an introvert and of maybe being anti-social. Don’t let people get the impression that you’re unfriendly.
  • Being more positive: we are not only what we eat, but also what we say and how we behave. Do you smile at the people you see on the street or in the office or in your neighborhood? And what do you think about people who don’t smile at you? When you smile more, you attract positivity. Behavioral studies published in the American Journal of Social Psychology show people with bright smiles have advantages in interviews, and social situations. Be the light in someone’s world!
  • Being more positive about yourself: have you ever felt better about something just because you smiled? Whether it was hearing a favorite song or seeing a sunset or petting a puppy, you smiled and suddenly the day got better. Imagine smiling more, and tapping even more frequently into that positivity.

Is it Right for You?

Only you can make that determination. But ask yourself whether a career and social boost, less jaw pain, and improved dental health are worth it. You know the answer already.
