Score a Nice Smile With Dental Implants in Palm Beach Gardens

Hockey is a contact sport, so spectators will see pucks, hockey sticks and bodies go flying into each other and against the dasher boards. It’s a “rough and tumble” sport, which accounts for many dental accidents, such as a knocked out tooth. Each hockey season a handful of players experience dental trauma. During the regular season in 2013, one hockey player did the unthinkable (in our opinion)—he pulled two teeth out! The hockey player was Pascal Dupuis, re-signed player for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

If you check it out online, you will see Dupuis sitting on the bench and then suddenly yanking both of his teeth out. If you have a loose tooth, please don’t try this at home. This isn’t the proper way to extract a tooth or treat the issue.

Most hockey players wait until the season is over or they retire before they start to consider completely restoring their smiles. Some don’t replace missing teeth while others opt for a denture. If this is the case, the jawbone will start to resorb, making it difficult for a patient to decide from a range of restorative options.

When a hockey player retires his skates and stick, it is easier to make a permanent decision regarding restorative treatment options. And that permanent choice may be a dental implant.

Why a dental implant should be your first choice
Just like many hockey players, when it comes to tooth loss, it may not be your first rodeo, but it may be your first time considering dental implants. This is a restorative treatment that can benefit you in many ways:

  • Screw-like implant stops the loss of jawbone in the affected area
  • The dental material used for the synthetic crown will match your natural teeth
  • You don’t need to take implant out to clean it

Does a dental implant seem like the right fit for you? If so, contact Dr. Mark Civin for more information regarding a dental implant in Palm Beach Gardens.
